Cold Cures

I have a cold. The second in a month. Conventional, over-the-counter cold cures tend to be packed with sugar and sweeteners. I've been attempting to self-medicate with chillies, garlic and onion and lemon and honey. And, of course, plenty of rest. I've also been trying hot baths and inhaling steam to alleviate the sinus pressure. Apparently raising your temperature helps your body to fight back against the cold virus too. However, I have to attend a day long seminar tomorrow (organised by me, so it's going to be a busy and stressful day), followed by a Christmas 'do.' I am close to caving in and making myself a Lemsip. Before I do, does anyone have any tried and tested candida-friendly cold cures?

Can you use and get agave? If so, I make a ginger tea with fresh ginger root, sweeten it with agave (you can use a little honey) and add a squeeze of lemon juice. Make sure you have a box of tissues handy when you start drinking it!

By the way, if you can't find Vosges in the UK, you can order online. I know the shipping is pricey though.

Hope you feel better soon. I just got over a cold!

Thanks for the suggestions Joi. Sorry it's taken me so long to reply...I think a catch-up post is in order. :D

although this post is old, net time you get a cold again I've heard that you should take vitamin C capsules through out the day. When I feel a cold coming on I take 1000-3000 mg of them through the day.....dark chocolate is supposed to soothe your throat too.Good luck next time.

I don't know if you check on your blog any longer, but here is something I use when I have a head cold. I have not taken cold medication for over 2 years.
